Question and and answer about Restructuring & Combining Two Businesses
Q : We are purchasing the business next door to us. Our existing business is 6 months old. As a result, we are restructuring our business and our policies. It's like we're starting "all over" again. The employees of the business we are purchasing are all being terminated and then have to reapply. Our existing employees will need to be able to go from one business to another (both retail). Since we will have new procedures, my question is: Can we restart our probationary period for existing employees?
A : Generally, a probationary period cannot be applied to a long-standing employee. Please visit our employee rights page for further explanation. Good luck.
