Question about Assault at Workplace
Q : I wanted to look up the statute of limitations regarding assault. Two years ago, I was assaulted, unprovoked, 4 times within a 2 month time period. I relayed the incidents to the HR department and was told I needed to sit down with the aggressor and talk things out. The last incident involved her putting her elbow into the back of my neck at my desk and shoving me down, then making verbal threats towards me. Recently our supervisor was terminated. The stress level has risen in the department we work in and all of a sudden her aggression is rising towards me again. She has made verbal threats towards me because she did not like the discussion we were having. "I just want to slap the **** out of you!" One day about a week ago she came into my work area aggressively, I believe, to hurt me, saw that there was a witness and instead made accusations of rumors being started about herself. I am afraid that her physical abuse towards me may happen again. She has made numerous references to a concealed handgun that she carries on her person. I do not feel safe. I am hoping that I may be able to file the charges of assault and possibly have it on her record as I do not want this to happen to anyone else. I live in central Texas and I was hoping someone may know what the statute of limitations was. I am afraid that she may hurt me again. Is there other action I should take?
